REGARDE, MAMAN!

Regarde, Maman!

This group exhibition brings together the work of eight photographers who are also mothers, sharing intimate images of love, exhaustion, longing, and quiet resilience. From the raw realities of birth to the loneliness of caregiving and the deep desire to become a mother, these works reveal what is so often left unseen. Regarde, Maman! is not only the familiar call of a child asking to be seen. It is also our call โ€” to pause, to shift our gaze, to truly look at the mother. To see her labor, her tenderness, her doubts, her strength. To acknowledge the woman behind the role.

Tender, messy, powerful, and realโ€” Regarde, Maman! is a call to witness and a reminder: you are not alone.

Motherland

Charlotte Boeyden

Motherland is an intimate exploration of motherhood in its many formsโ€”tender, chaotic, fragile, and luminous. Through photography and textiles, the exhibition captures both the beauty and challenges of raising children, finding quiet poetry in everyday moments from pregnancy to play.

The works are gentle yet honest, holding joy and vulnerability without explanation. Some pieces reflect Boeydenโ€™s own experience with anxiety as a young mother, blending personal insight with universal rhythms of care.

Stitched and mended textiles accompany the photographs, highlighting the ongoing labor of motherhood. These works speak to repair, time, and the constant act of nurturingโ€”echoed in phrases like โ€œmend the worn, mend the days.โ€

Motherland invites viewers into a world where imperfection and resilience coexist, honoring the small, fleeting moments that shape both parent and child.

Through tender, raw, and intimate images of her childrenโ€”laughing, crying, growingโ€”Julie captures the quiet power of motherhood. She remains an invisible yet constant witness, gently questioning how patriarchy has shaped who appears in our family albums and who stays behind the camera.
